a stark reality of rising intolerance across Bharat and Bangladesh

In a deeply unsettling trend, Hindus across Bharat and Bangladesh are increasingly facing violent attacks on their religious festivals, revealing a stark rise in Islamist-driven hostility. With over 200 documented incidents, these attacks are not isolated but part of a calculated pattern to undermine Hindu traditions and create a sense of fear among the community. In Bharat, festivals like Ram Navami, Hanuman Jayanti, and Ganesh Chaturthi have become targets for stone-pelting, mob violence, and assaults, while in Bangladesh, the minority Hindu population endured horrific attacks, particularly during Durga Puja, with 30 reported cases in 2024 alone. These acts of aggression are more than just isolated crimes—they are a direct assault on the cultural fabric and religious freedoms of Hindus.

The brutality of these incidents, from pelting stones at peaceful processions to vandalising temples and terrorising participants, is a chilling reminder of the rising intolerance Hindus face, even in lands where they form the majority. The global silence around these atrocities is deafening, and the Hindu community continues to suffer in the shadows of this rising Islamic religious extremism.

A wave of violent attacks targeted Ram Mandir Shobha Yatras across various parts of Bharat in January 2024. These processions, marking the completion of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, became flashpoints for communal violence as Islamic extremist groups attempted to disrupt the celebrations through stone-pelting and arson. The yatras, intended to be peaceful religious celebrations, were marred by violent confrontations with multiple incidents leading to injuries and arrests. This pattern of aggression demonstrates a concerted effort to destabilize the event and inflame tensions between communities.

Hindu festivals, a cornerstone of cultural and religious identity, have not been spared from these attacks. Each celebration is deliberately targeted in a premeditated manner, highlighting an alarming trend of intolerance. It is deeply concerning that in a country with a Hindu majority, such hostility is exhibited by a minority community. Despite claiming to uphold secular values, these radical elements impose ideologies and restrictions on Hindus, who themselves have historically demonstrated genuine secularism.
