Ramadan, the sacred month in Islam is currently being observed around the world. It involves fasting from dawn to sunset, prayer, reflection, and acts of charity. It culminates in the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr.
The holy month of Ramadan is ongoing. It is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. It is regarded as the holiest month of the year as it was the month in which the Quran was revealed to Prophet Mohammed on the night of Laylat Al Qadr, one of the last ten nights of Ramadan. It’s the month of piety, charity and blessings. The holy month involves capable Muslims from abstain from eating and drinking from dawn to dusk. This fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam.
In India, this year Ramadan month started from March 12, 2024 and it will end on April 9 or 10, 2024.The festive occasion of Eid will take placed either on April 9 or April 10 depending on the moon sighting.
The final 10 days of Ramadan carry profound importance for Muslims globally. During this period, believers engage in Qiyam-Ul-Layl prayers, observed late at night and lasting from 1.5 to 3 hours held in various mosques. The last 10 days and nights hold even more significance as they are full of even greater reward and blessings.

According to Islamic Relief Worldwide, “Laylatul Qadr, the Night of Decree or Night of Power, is one of the most sacred nights in the Islamic calendar. It was the night in which the Qur’an was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and falls within the last ten nights of Ramadan.” “The exact date of Laylatul Qadr is unknown, although it is thought to occur on an odd night in the last 10 days of Ramadan (e.g. the 21st, 23rd, 25th, 27 or 29th night). The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said, “Seek it in the last 10 days, on the odd nights,” (Hadith, Bukhari and Muslim.”
